Asteria means "star" and was a Titan goddess of falling stars, astrology and more.

To escape Zeus, Asteria transformed herself into a quail and flung herself into the Aegean Sea. This caused Asteria to  metamorphose into the island Asteria.

Asteria gave up her stars to escape Zeus and became earth bound. I often wonder if she ever missed being part of the cosmos. This is my interpretation of how she may have felt being a part of the cosmos.

Medium: Mixed Media - I start with texture paste then add a layer of spray-paints, then Acrylics and finally oil paints and oil pastels pastels.

All pieces are completed with varnish.
