This is a homage to the state of Virginia. Its state bird the Cardinal and its state tree the Dogwood.

Living just off the Great Dismal swamp, we saw Cardinals all the time and the dogwoods grew wild on the side of the highways.

They were a site to behold in the late spring and summer when the dogwoods would bloom and the Cardinals would land on their branches and watch us outside.

Medium: Mixed Media - I start with texture paste then add a layer of spray-paints, then Acrylics and finally oil colors.

All pieces are completed with varnish.
